ChronicHandEczema.co.uk is a LEO Pharma created and funded disease awareness campaign.
CHE is eczema on your hands and wrists that hasn’t gone away for over 3 months, or that happens at least 2 times in a year. CHE can only be diagnosed by a healthcare professional. This website is intended for CHE patients and their caregivers and for a UK general public audience.
This site includes testimony from people living with CHE. The views expressed are those of the individuals. Experience with CHE may vary and medical advice should be sought from a healthcare professional.

Flare-ups and triggers

The symptoms of Chronic Hand Eczema can change over time, sometimes getting better and then worse again. Times when symptoms are worse are called ‘flares’ or ‘flare-ups’.

Flare-ups can sometimes happen when someone comes into contact with triggers.
Triggers are things that can lead to an eczema flare-up. Finding out what things could make Chronic Hand Eczema worse and staying away from them as much as possible could be useful.

Triggers can be different for everyone, but might include things like:

SOAPS

SMOKING

STRESS

CHEMICALS

RUBBER

FREQUENT HAND
WASHING

WET WORK

FOODS

COLD OR WARM TEMPERATURES

ALCOHOL

METALS

HORMONAL
CHANGES

CHRONIC HAND ECZEMA MIGHT NOT COMPLETELY GO AWAY FOR EVERYONE, BUT HAVING THE SUPPORT OF YOUR DOCTOR THROUGHOUT CAN BE HELPFUL FOR MANY
